Netflix unlocked to all Xbox LIVE members this weekend

unnamedMicrosoft is good for the occasional surprise as they’ve allowed Netflix subscribers who are not on Xbox LIVE’s gold subscription level the chance to get in on the action with a trial Netflix weekend.

We hear that you still need to have a Netflix account for this to actually all work according to plan, but it’s not a bad deal if you have only been using Netflix on your mobile device or computer so far.

The Netflix original series House of Cards also just so happens to be premiering today (coincidence?) which is probably why the offer has been extended. Either way, we hear the series is excellent so far, so it might be worth taking a look. Plus, it’s got Kevin Spacey, so rumours of it being could just might be true!

We should be clear that Microsoft is not opening up Xbox LIVE for all usage types this weekend and is only allowing Netflix this time around. In the past, they’ve had free trial weekends following big game launches like Halo 4 and Gears of War 3, but this time around will strictly be for streaming from the ‘flix.

In other news, you can watch Hulu’s Adzone content (which is strictly commercials and no real content, by the way) without a Hulu Plus subscription like you used to need. Of course, there are very few reasons you’d want to do this, especially considering you still need a gold membership to do it via Xbox LIVE.
