PlayStation State of Play 09.24.2024 recap

This afternoon, Sony held another PlayStation State of Play address. If you missed it, here’s a recap to help you catch up to speed with everything that was announced.

  • Ghost of Yotei (aka. Ghost of Tsushima 2) was officially revealed. It will star a new protagonist named Atsu.
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn is being remastered for PS5. Those who own the PS4 version will be able to upgrade for $9.99. It’s coming out on Halloween, and will feature 10 hours’ worth of re-recorded dialogue, plus visual enhancements.
  • Monster Hunter: Wilds received a new trailer and a release date. It will release on February 28th, 2025,
  • Astro Bot will receive free DLC in “Fall 2025,” adding ten speed run challenges and several new bots to collect.
  • The Midnight Walk is a Tim Burton-esquire claymation game from the folks who developed Lost in Random. It’ll be playable on PSVR 2 and PS5.
  • Hell is Us received a new trailer. It looks like a horror game mixed with a Soulslike.
  • Palworld comes to PS5 today.
  • Metro Awakening VR received a new trailer, and a November 7th release date.
  • Medieval Soulslike game, Archeage Chronicles, will release in 2025.
  • A collection of remastered Lunar games will be released in Spring 2025.
  • TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge received new DLC today. It adds Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa, for $3.99. New, remixed music was also added via a free update.
  • Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is coming to PS4 and PS5, plus Xbox Series, in December. December 10th to be exact.
  • Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded will arrive in December as well.
  • The RPG, Fantasia: Neo Dimension, will launch December 5th. It’s a tactical RPG.
  • Keanu Reeves will headline a new downloadable add-on for Sonic x Shadow: Generations.
  • LEGO: Horizon Adventures is set to release on November 14th. You can preorder it starting October 3rd.
  • City building game, Towers of Aghasba, is set to enter Early Access in November.
  • Blumhouse’s PS1 inspired horror game, Fear the Spotlight, received a new trailer.
  • Alan Wake II’s second expansion, The Lake House, was revealed. It’s coming out in October.
  • New PS5 controller and plate colours announced. They are, as follows: Chroma Indigo, Chroma Pearl and Chroma Teal. They’ll go up for preorder in October.
  • Dynasty Warriors: Origins will be released on January 17th.
  • More games are set to receive PS5 Pro support, including Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows and Metal Gear Solid: Delta.
  • Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred received a new gameplay trailer.
  • Fortnite is getting its own limited edition DualSense.
  • Heihachi Mishima got his own Tekken 8 trailer.
