If you’ve ever wanted to create your own Battlefield game modes, you’ll be in luck once Battlefield 2042 drops. Why is that? Well, Electronic Arts and DICE listened to their fans, and have created something both unique and revolutionary for the next instalment of this venerable first-person shooter series.
Referred to as Battlefield Portal, this new mode will basically allow players to create their own skirmishes. Described as being some sort of open, living in-game world, it’s where folks can draw from four eras of the series to create their own unique battles. This means that one could set a shootout between futuristic soldiers and WW2-era soldiers on a fan favourite map, or do something entirely different.
Modes created in Battlefield Portal will then be able to be shared with others. That’s going to be one of the biggest draws for sure, although it’s also worth noting that the individual maps themselves cannot be edited.
