Control is (surprisingly) set to receive a multiplayer spin-off codenamed Condor

In news we didn’t expect to read, Remedy has revealed that it’s working on a multiplayer only Control spin-off. As of right now, the project is codenamed Condor.

Developed in partnership with 505 Games, Condor is said to be a four player PVE game, which will be built using their Northlight Engine. It will expand the Control universe, as the developer has stated that the games’ world bigger than just one character or location. That said, they’ve also confirmed that a “bigger budget Control game” is also in the pipeline. Whether it will be a sequel, or something else, is currently unknown.

“We get that there is going to be scepticism about multiplayer,” Game Director Mikael Kasurinen explained. “But I believe we can create shared experiences without compromising the unique DNA of who we are, or the stories we want to tell. Yes, we need to re-think our angles, our techniques, our mindset, but we see it as an exciting challenge: What would a Remedy multiplayer game look like?”

“Control is more than one location, character, or story. We have more. Something ambitious,” Kasurinen continued. “As today’s announcement stated, ‘[Remedy and 505] have outlined high-level collaboration terms to further expand the Control franchise with a bigger-budget Control-game’. I unfortunately cannot go into more detail than that, but suffice to say, I’m extremely excited for the future of the Control franchise.”

Condor is being developed for Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation 5. It’s expected to come to Game Pass as well.
