In what may be a perfect role for him, Nicolas Cage has been cast as Joe Exotic, the subject of Tiger King, a Netflix documentary series that swept the streaming world less than two months ago.
Beyond some limited details about the project, we know little about timelines for production or release, though we expect this to be put into production in earnest as soon as the world health pandemic eases, since the persona of Joe Exotic will still very much be top of mind.
This version of the story will be an adaptation of the Texas Monthly article Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild, as opposed to a remake of the Netflix series.
The project will be Cage’s first TV role and will follow a similar limited run of just eight episodes, to be produced by CBS and Imagine Television Studios, says Variety.
What do you think of all the Tiger King hype? (And no we don’t mean to ask whether Carol did it.)
