Wreckfest gets a new trailer, and a release date

Drive hard. Die last.

Above lays the slogan for THQ Nordic’s destructive racing game, Wreckfest, which will soon bring its vehicular carnage to consoles. As you may know, it’s already available on PC, after being an Early Access title.

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Wreckfest will drop on August 27th, and will be available in both standard and deluxe editions. Those who purchase the deluxe edition will get 24 hours’ worth of early access, but all preorders will be gifted the Bandit Ripper V8 racer.

The deluxe edition ($59.99 USD, versus $39.99 for the standard edition) also contains the Season Pass, which will grant access to 20 new cars, 20 special roof decorations and additional car customizations like armor, rims and more. This new content will be released step-by-step after the release, along with free content updates.

Folks who’ve already purchased Wreckfest on PC won’t be left out of the fun, either, as new content has been announced for that version. It will all be added via a large and very free update, which will include:

  • 3 entirely new tracks and 1 new derby arena
  • 3 new crazy challenge vehicles
  • 1 new reward car for finishing the career
  • New & improved career events
  • Several new paint jobs for existing vehicles
  • Additional daytimes for all tracks
  • … and some more cool stuff!
