Fans of the dungeon crawling genre have something new to cheer about, especially if they’re console only gamers. We say that because Runic Games’ Torchlight II has finally been given a console port and release date.
Torchlight II is the sequel to the original Torchlight, which came to Xbox 360 in 2011. The second game was released a year later, in 2012, and has been a PC/Mac exclusive since then. Seven years may have passed, but we’re still happy to hear that it’s heading to consoles, because it remains a very fun and immersive experience.
Perfect World Entertainment is in charge of the console version of the game, and promises a port that has been designed with controllers in mind. They say they’ve redesigned the UI with the goal of making the game world easier to explore with a controller, and that a new targeting system and unique control scheme will aid this.
If you’ve yet to play Torchlight II, but like Diablo-style games, then this is something to keep your eyes on. We normally try not to gush about games in news articles, but this one happens to be a personal favourite of this particular author, who looks forward to playing it again.
Torchlight II will bring its dungeon crawling, hack n’ slash gameplay, redesigned UI and loot to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch on the third of September.
