Get ready to cook with online friends in Overcooked 2

Overcooked 2 is the newly revealed sequel to the incredibly fun, cooperatively focused cooking game that released to acclaim during the summer of 2016. It’s not far off, either, as Ghost Town Games and Team17 plan to release their follow-up on August 7th. This means that it will release almost two years (to the date) after its predecessor did, even if it only came to the Nintendo Switch last year.

The biggest thing about Overcooked 2 is something that the first game was sorely lacking: online multiplayer. As such, teams of up to four players will be able to get together online and command their kitchens in local, wireless and online fashion. This will make the game a lot easier to play, because the first was difficult to beat as a solo player and friends aren’t always available to game in person.

This time around there will also be new ingredients to cook with (or burn), and ingredients will be tossable, allowing them to be thrown to friends without losing a beat. New recipes will also factor in, of course, thanks to the aforementioned new ingredients. Plus, with stages being able to change on the fly, there won’t be any shortage of surprise or urgency.

Overcooked 2 may have been announced during Nintendo’s E3 direct, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a Switch exclusive. No, as the game’s trailer states, it will also be heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam.
