Nier: Automata will finally provide a follow-up to Square Enix’s cult favourite action-RPG, Nier next year, and now we know when we can get our hands on the ambitious follow-up. Nier: Automata will release in the West on March 7th, 2017, with a demo soon being made available to the general public, as was confirmed at today’s PlayStation Experience keynote.
Nier: Automata is being developed by PlatinumGames, to be published by Square Enix, and takes place thousands of years after the events of one of the original Nier’s multiple potential endings. The game will revolve around a trio of android protagonists, 2B, 9S and A2, who are remnants of an alien invasion that saw humankind fleeing to the moon.
We recently provided an early hands-on preview of Nier: Automata, along with an interview with lead producers, Yosuke Saito and Junichi Ehara. The action-RPG sequel will release for PlayStation 4 and PC.
