After numerous leaks hinted at its existence, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition was finally officially announced during the pre-show period of The Game Awards 2016 tonight, as the first game published by Gearbox’s new publishing label. A remaster of cult favourite first-person shooter Bulletstorm, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition updates the experience for the current hardware generation, on top of adding additional challenges within some all-new, score-chasing maps.
Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is in development for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will offer full 60fps performance on all platforms. The game will also boast enhanced 4K visuals on both PC and PlayStation 4 Pro. The remaster is set to release on April 7th, 2017, and is already available to pre-order. Those that do pre-order will receive an additional campaign that allows you to play through the entire experience as fan-favourite gaming icon, Duke Nukem.
Bulletstorm originally released in 2011 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, where it was published by Epic Games. Both the original game and remaster are developed by Polish studio, People Can Fly. Taking place in the 26th Century, players take control of Grayson Hunt, a mercenary that becomes stranded on a hostile planet with his cynical, cybernetically-enhanced companion, Ishi. Players are challenged to, “Kill with skill” to achieve points and progress throughout both the campaign and multiplayer modes, with weapons designed around using creative kill methods based on group kills, environmental kills and other such specialty kills. A sequel to Bulletstorm was planned, though was ultimately cancelled due to the modest sales of the original. The release of the remaster however could give the Bulletstorm IP a fresh chance for a follow-up, should it be more successful.
