If you’re looking forward to the hotly anticipated second season of Marvel’s primetime ABC miniseries, Agent Carter, then ABC has a bit of bad news for you. The second season premiere of Agent Carter, originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 5th, has been bumped slightly, on account of U.S. President Obama’s State of the Union address on January 12th. This is likely to avoid having to premiere the show on the 5th, only to pre-empt it the very next week, which doesn’t make much sense. The show’s two-hour Season Two premiere is now scheduled for Tuesday, January 19th, still in the 9:00-11:00 timeslot, before its remaining hour-long episodes occupy the 9:00-10:00 timeslot for the next several Tuesdays. It’s currently unknown whether the 2016 return of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the full-sized ABC series that Agent Carter subs in for during its midseason hiatus, is affected by the delay at all.
Agent Carter’s second season will comprise a slightly increased ten episodes, after the first season comprised merely eight episodes. The second season will once again follow Hayley Atwell’s SSR Agent, Peggy Carter, a character introduced in 2011 movie, Captain America: The First Avenger, and featured in cameo appearances within both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This time, Peggy is on a new mission, leaving New York for the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles, circa 1947, six months after the conclusion of Season One.
James D’Arcy (Edwin Jarvis), Chad Michael Murray (Agent Jack Thompson), Enver Gjokaj (Chief Daniel Sousa), Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark), and Bridget Regan (Dottie Underwood), will all reprise their roles for the show’s second season. The series is also set to introduce a host of new personalities in Season Two, including Lotte Verbeek as Jarvis’ wife, Ana, Ken Marino as mob boss, Joseph Manfredi, Kurtwood Smith as Vernon Masters, and Wynn Everett as Whitney Frost, a re-tooled 1940’s version of Marvel villainess, Madame Masque.
