Nintendo has announced plans to unveil its first smartphone game tomorrow, October 29th.
Freshly-minted (though long-time employee) Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima said the company will “talk about details tomorrow”, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Announced after Nintendo reported disappointing financial results for the previous quarter, the new game will stay true to its promised 2015 unveiling, as revealed earlier this year. Whether the game will actually come out before the end of the year remains to be seen.
DeNA is still likely to be the game’s developer, though nothing official on that front is likely to be revealed before tomorrow’s announcement.
What are you expecting to see from tomorrow’s game? Do you expect a new IP, existing franchise, or some cool cross-branding between two titles? We’re expecting the first mobile game to be something akin to an Angry Birds Star Wars-style title, though there are plenty of different things DeNA and Nintendo could be planning, so perhaps it is best to wait and see.
Of course, we’ll have all the details as they happen tomorrow, whenever the details actually come out. Just don’t be expecting a port of Super Mario Galaxy anytime soon, okay?
