Elusive Wii U crossover RPG, Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem got a slick new trailer during E3’s Nintendo Digital Event today. The game also got a release narrowed down a bit more for Western territories, with Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem officially coming to North America in 2016. The game will release in Japan before the end of this year.
Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem appears to unfold as a Shin Megami Tensei RPG made for Wii U, down to its turn-based combat and dungeon-crawling, along with its unique blend of occult themes and a real-world Japanese setting. The game will however feature familiar personalities from Nintendo’s Fire Emblem games, including recognizable Fire Emblem: Awakening lead, Chrom, who will assist the main heroes after being pulled from their own dimension. The Fire Emblem characters have also gotten a makeover by the Shin Megami Tensei artists as well, to look far more imposing, and better fit in the game’s unique crossover universe.
Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem is being developed as a collaboration between Atlus and Intelligent Systems, with Nintendo publishing the game next year.
