If you’re counting the slew of next-gen delays, you can add another one to your list. Fortunately, this one isn’t all that bad. Nonetheless, Ubisoft’s highly anticipated next-gen exclusive follow-up, Assassin’s Creed Unity has slipped a couple of weeks, and will now release in November. It was originally scheduled to launch on October 28th.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is now set to debut on November 11th, placing it on the same release date as the series’ separate last-gen sequel, Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Ubisoft has also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Unity will launch with a Day One patch to boot, so hopefully your platform of choice is connected to the internet.
The delay is attributed to Ubisoft simply having a desire to add some extra polish to the game, and make absolutely sure that it lives up to its potential. They claim that Assassin’s Creed Unity is on schedule and proceeding well, but the couple of extra weeks will give them extra certainty that the game is the best it can be. They then go on to thank players for their patience.
The delay also slightly affects the release of Assassin’s Creed Rogue in Europe and Asia, as Ubisoft now wishes to release the two new Assassin’s Creed games simultaneously in all territories. Thus, Assassin’s Creed Rogue is now releasing a couple of days later on November 13th in PAL regions, so it can launch alongside the slightly-delayed Asssassin’s Creed Unity.
Assassin’s Creed Unity unfolds during the early days of the French revolution, and will feature dynamic drop-in/drop-out co-op for the first time in the series’ history, for up to four players. Assassin’s Creed Rogue meanwhile is set during the Seven Years’ War in the 18th Century, allowing players to control a member of the antagonistic Templar organization, defecting from the Assassins, for the first time in the series’ history.
Assassin’s Creed Unity will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Assassin’s Creed Rogue meanwhile will release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Neither game will release for Nintendo’s Wii U, with Ubisoft recently declaring that Nintendo gamers don’t buy Assassin’s Creed games, after Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag largely failed to sell on Wii U.
