Nintendo Switch 2 details revealed during dedicated presentation

This morning, Nintendo took to the internet to host a stream dedicated to its next console, the previously announced Nintendo Switch 2. During the live-streamed event, they shared a number of details about the device, including some specs, pricing and preorder timing.

To start, the Nintendo Switch 2 will release on June 5th, and will cost $499.99 USD/$629.99 Canadian. Those with interest can begin to preorder it on April 9th.

The console will not feature an OLED screen. Instead, it will have a 120hz screen that can reach 1080p in handheld mode. When docked, it will be possible to get 4K, they say. Additionally, the new Joy-Con controllers will feature mouse-like capabilities, and the console will offer 256gb of storage.

GameCube games and features are coming to Nintendo Switch Online, and the C button will be used to chat. Furthermore, a camera accessory is planned. So, too, is a dedicated GameCube controller.

A number of games were also revealed:

  • FromSoftware is making a multiplayer game called The Darkbloods
  • Donkey Kong Bananza is a new, 3D, platformer. It will release on July 17th.
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will launch this winter
  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is getting Switch 2 version, as is Super Mario Party: Jamboree.
  • Mario Kart World will launch exclusively with the console
  • It seems like updated versions of Zelda and Kirby games are in the works too.

Unfortunately, some Switch 2 games will reportedly cost as much as $80, or even $90, USD.
