Ubisoft Forward Recap [6.10.24]

With no E3 on the horizon, publishers and developers have gone to online presentations in order to show off their upcoming wares. Yesterday, Microsoft held its 2024 Showcase. Today, Ubisoft took its spot in the limelight, and held its 2024 Ubisoft Forward.

If you missed today’s event, don’t fret. We’ve got a recap for you.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows:

After sharing a first look at gameplay from the next, Japan-based, Assassin’s Creed game, Ubisoft tool things a step further today. They did so by sharing an extended look at gameplay featuring the title’s dual protagonists.

They also uploaded two other videos, one of which is about the different editions of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. The other is all about combat and stealth.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora:

The game based on James Cameron’s ever popular Avatar universe had its first story expansion revealed, though we knew at least two were in the works.

Entitled The Sky Breaker, this first expansion begins after the events of the main campaign. Its trailer begins with the Na’vi celebrating heir victory over the RDA, by hosting a festival called the Great Games. However, it’s quickly interrupted by another human attack.

It’s to be released on July 16th.

Star Wars: Outlaws:

Today, we received a lot of Star Wars: Outlaws content, including a game overview trailer, a gameplay showcase and a deep dive.

Through this, we’ve been able to see the game’s hub of villainy, which is full of scoundrels, as well as space combat and an infiltration mission. That, and more, like the reputation system that is affected by how you play the game.

Just Dance:

The next iteration of the ever popular dancing series will venture into virtual reality, and will therefore be titled Just Dance VR:Welcome to Dancity. It’s coming to Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 3 on June 15th.

When it launches, the game will feature 25 hits and original songs combined. Some of these will include:

  • Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen
  • Bad Liar by Selena Gomez

  • Lights by Ellie Goulding
  • Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen
  • A Little Party Never Hurt Nobody (All We Got) by Fergie, featuring Q-Rock and GoonRock
  • Volar by LeeLee Pons, featuring Susan Diaz and Victor Cartenas

Up to six players can dance together in 360 degree ‘universes.’ Furthermore, Just Dance VR will introduce two-handed scoring, and a new social hub called Dancity (where people can meet others, have their own apartment, hang out, interact with toys and dance.)

Anno 117: Pax Romana:

Become a Roman Emperor in part of Rome’s uncharted provinces. Build your cities and reign supreme.

Monopoly:

Nostalgia will become interactive once again, when a new Monopoly game launches this September. This one is coming to all platforms.

XDefiant:

Although fans will have to wait until the next XDebrief show on July 1st for a full reveal, the team behind XDefiant did share some news about the game’s first season. In doing so, they revealed that it will add a new faction (GSK), more maps, additional weapons and at least one game mode.

Prince of Persia:

The long-awaited remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time made an appearance through a very short trailer.

We now know that this one is scheduled for release in 2026.

The Rogue Prince of Persia, which just recently released, is getting a new (Temple of Fire) update.

“The Temple of Fire” brings a vibrant yet treacherous new biome in which players will have to mobilize all their skills to overcome new enemies, traps, and traversal challenges. Evil Empire spiced up the experience with two new mobs, the Shielded Warrior and Duellist, as well as one new weapon, the Flaming Censers. This update also introduces the Meta Progression Skill Tree, which allows players to use Spirit Glimmers to unlock persistent improvements.

“The Temple of Fire” is the first major content addition among multiple updates leading up to the 1.0 launch of the game, based on community feedback collected throughout the Early Access phase

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is set to receive story DLC, which was teased today. All we know is that it’ll be called Mask of Darkness, and will release in September.

The Crew: Motorfest:

The team behind the latest game in The Crew racing series informed us that Year Two is coming up.

Year Two of The Crew: Motorfest will introduce a new island (Maui), a premium ‘Chase Squad’ fantasy and more. It’s said to be free.

The Division 2:

Year six of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will introduce a ‘fresh approach to battling enemies.’

All users can now access the endgame content, including those who do not own Warlords of New York. Meanwhile, a new expansion is coming. Season 1 (First Rogue) will release today, whereas Season 2 will follow.

Here’s a Season 6 deep dive.

Skull and Bones:

Season Two of Skull and Bones, which they call Chorus of Havoc, is underway. It will introduce a Megalodon enemy, a maneuverable ship called The Brig, and time limited boat race events.

Fleet management is also in the works.

When Season 3 begins, it will be titled the Dragon’s Wake, and will feature a flying dragon monster and a new, 5v5, PVP mode.

After the show, Ubisoft continued on into deep dives of some of its biggest shown titles.
