Embracer Group cancels unannounced Deus Ex game; announces layoffs

It’s a sad day for fans of the long-running Deus Ex series, as an unannounced game has been cancelled before being made public. This news was revealed this morning, alongside 97 people being let go from Eidos Montreal.

Instead of working on this Deus Ex game, Eidos Montreal will focus on an original franchise. Two years of work will go down the drain, though.

Embracer Group — the Swedish company who owns the rights to Deus Ex — didn’t comment when Bloomberg reached out.

Eggplante wishes those who lost their jobs today the best.
