Award winning actor Matthew McConaughey made a surprise visit to The Game Awards stage tonight, in order to show off a brand new game that he’s a part of. It’s a time-bending sci-fi experience from Archetype Entertainment, which goes by the name of Exodus.
McConaughey will, of course, voice a character in the new project, which has been described as an “epic new sci-fi action-adventure roleplaying game.” It seems he’ll be playing one of the astronauts it features.
We were shown a debut trailer that features quite a bit of gameplay, which gives off scents of Mass Effect and Destiny. However, the developers over at Archetype Entertainment did also release an extended story trailer.
“Exodus introduces an innovative new sci-fi world that forces players to face the consequences of their choices over time,” said Archetype co-founder and studio boss James Ohlen.
“We introduce the player, as the Traveler, to an original sci-fi universe, a world created with an incredible level of detail in collaboration with award-winning sci-fi authors. The gameplay setting and story we created is built around the impact of Time Dilation, a concept I’ve been fascinated with since I was 12 years-old. We use Time Dilation as a catalyst impacting the choices you make in-game that sets in motion events affecting your relationships with your loved ones, and your entire civilization, for generations.”
Exodus is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
