Earlier today, Sony held another previously scheduled State of Play address, which was shared to us via livestream. This time around, the gaming giant mostly focused on its brand new PlayStation VR2 headset, but there were some other nice surprises. We’ve already shared most of those in separate news posts, while this one will act as a recap of everything else they announced.
The Foglands:
A new, virtual reality, shooter, The Foglands looks like a mix of the Wild West and monsters. Well, those things along with FPS mechanics, roguelike elements and different pathways, according to what we’ve read. Cards also look to play a big role.
As you’ll see in its debut trailer, this game is dark, full of monsters and looks to be its own thing. You’ll see tarot cards, horrific enemies, colourful, gun-based combat and a strange looking protagonist. On top of that, several different methods of dispatching enemies are shown within.
The Foglands is coming from Well Told Entertainment.
Green Hell VR:
Thanks to today’s online event, Green Hell fans can now watch the first trailer for Green Hell VR. A game which will allow you to hit trees with rocks, take on tigers and more, all within dense foliage.
Synapse:
In a world made of black and white, wherein a colourful prism may well be the villain du jour, players will take out drab looking enemies using firepower. This is the set-up for Synapse, as far as we can tell, and it’s a new PSVR2 game that doesn’t yet have a release date.
Journey to Foundation:
This is an adaptation of the sci-fi series by renowned creator, Isaac Asimov. In it, you’ll act as a spy who’s investigating unrest within a Galactic Empire.
Before Your Eyes:
If you’ve heard of this one before it’s because Before Your Eyes originally released in 2021, and was considered a standout indie game at that time. It has since been reworked for virtual reality, and is soon going to be available on PlayStation VR2.
This game tasks you with playing as a recently deceased character, who relives his or her memories en route to their afterlife. Whenever the player blinks, the headset registers it and changes the scene. Needless to say it sounds interesting.
You’ll be able to play this one on March 10th.
Humanity:
This unique looking game comes to us from the folks at Enhanced, who are known for creating both Rez Infinite and Tetris Effect: Connected. Their latest effort — Humanity — allows players to control a dog who’s shepherding large groups of people. It’s coming to both PSVR and PSVR2, so it’ll be playable on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
A demo is currently available, but the full experience will not be out until May.
Goodbye Volcano High:
This rhythm-based visual novel, which was created to defy a 4Chan campaign, is coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 this June.
Check out its new story trailer:
Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections:
Featuring the series’ largest roster to date, this next game in the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series is heading to PlayStation this year. It celebrates the 20th anniversary of its source material, will support 60FPS on current-gen and will also introduce Ashura and Indra Otsuki to its already massive, 124 character roster.
Wayfinder:
Although Wayfinder isn’t a new game announcement, it has received a brand new trailer.
If you’ve never heard of this one before, it’s an action-RPG from Airship Syndicate (Darksiders: Genesis and Ruined King: A League of Legends Story). Season One of early access, for this live service multiplayer game will begin this May, on PS4 and PS5.
