You may have already heard that Major League Baseball MVP and pitching/slugging phenom, Shohei Ohtani, will grace the cover of MLB: The Show 22. Well, now we’re here to tell you that PlayStation has revealed collector’s editions for the game.
Not only will Shohei appear on the cover, but those behind the game have also gone to great lengths to commission an anime version of the athlete for its special edition. The rendering will be done by none other than Takashi Okazaki of Afro Samurai and Batman Ninja fame.
Starting now, those who pre-order MLB: The Show 22 on the PlayStation Store will receive a Gold Choice Pack for use in the game. They’ll also be able to pick from the following editions:
- MVP Edition: The MVP Edition on PlayStation includes the game on PS4 and PS5, a limited edition steel book, 4 days early access, double daily login rewards and additional in-game items. Available for $109.99 CAD.
- Digital Deluxe Edition: The Digital Deluxe Edition will be available on the PlayStation Store and includes the game on PS4 and PS5, 4 days early access, double daily login rewards.
Although The Show was a longtime PlayStation exclusive, that ended last year, when the game made its first appearance on Xbox. Now, the beloved sports simulation series will break another barrier, by heading to the Nintendo Switch.
Those who pre-purchase a digital edition of MLB: The Show 22 will receive early access, starting on April 1st. The game will not officially release until April 5th.
*Please note that, while this information came to us in a PlayStation themed press release, we assume that the different editions will be available on other platforms as well.
