Alan Wake: Remastered will, in fact, release this October

The rumours were true: Alan Wake is being remastered, and he and his flashlight will return on the fifth of October.

Although the retail listing leak for Alan Wake: Remastered showed an October 5, 2021 release date for the updated classic, Remedy Entertainment was unwilling to confirm that the other day. Instead, they chose to simply give the project a ‘fall, 2021’ launch window.

That changed during Sony’s PlayStation Showcase, wherein Alan Wake: Remastered received not only a brand new trailer, but also more details and an official release date. This makes us believe that the game’s official announcement was always intended to occur during this online event, prior to the proverbial cat being let out of the bag a week or so early.

Alan Wake: Remastered will offer improved facial animations and lip-syncing, updated cutscenes, improved character models possessing better hair and colouring, and better environmental details. This means more realistic lighting (which will be a big boost to this particular game, given its reliance on light) and modern textures.

This version of the game will also offer an audio commentary track with Creative Director Sam Lake, when it shines its light on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on October 5th.
