Perhaps the biggest news to have come out of today’s Ubisoft E3 2021 livestream relates to a new Mario adventure. Well, to be specific, it’s a sequel to the Nintendo Switch launch title, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, and it goes by the name of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.
This time around, the Mushroom Kingdom’s finest and those pesky Rabbids will venture off planet and into space. There, in a slightly Mario Galaxy inspired universe, the strategic battles this series is known for will be carried out.
As the story goes, a mysterious and malevolent entity named Cursa has begun to twist and attack planets with its evil influence. The only ones who can stop this from happening are Mario, Peach and those dastardly Rabbids. They’ll do so on different planets, and in varied arenas, as they battle for good against evil.
Players will create their dream team of three Heroes from an eclectic roster of nine to face surprising bosses, familiar enemies from the Mario universe and exceptional Rabbids enemies in their cosmic quest! There are dozens of Sparks throughout the galaxy to locate, rescue and join the journey. Each Spark has a distinct power and personality, and heroes can use their special abilities in battle to gain the upper hand in combat. When this unlikely team combines forces with the Sparks’ immense energy, anything is possible … for better OR worse!
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will be released onto Nintendo Switch in 2022.
