Almost ten years after its inaugural release, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD has been confirmed for a second tour of duty on the Nintendo Switch. As such, it will mark yet another ‘classic’ Zelda remaster for Nintendo’s latest console.
Although Skyward Sword originally relied on Wii Motion Plus controls, the team behind this update will thankfully be adding a button-based control scheme for those who’d prefer that. However, with that being said, Nintendo did confirm that it plans to try to replicate the original input methods using the Switch’s Joy-Cons. In the same breath, the company promised even smoother combat, thanks to the console’s noticeably improved processor. After all, the original game was released close to the end of the Wii’s lifecycle.
The new control method will apparently map Link’s sword to the right joystick, thus allowing folks to play it using the Switch, Switch Lite or Pro Controller.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will spread its wings and fly on July 16th. On that very same day, Nintendo will also release special edition Joy-Con controllers that are made to resemble the Hylian Shield and Master Sword.
