Fans of the dungeon-crawler genre will be happy to hear that a new entry will soon join the fold. That is, Torchlight III, the Perfect World Entertainment published sequel to two of the genre’s best efforts.
Originally intended to be a different type of game, Torchlight III was then altered and turned into a true sequel to the previous two titles. We’d heard rumblings that it would be released this fall, but didn’t expect it to be coming so soon. Either that, or fall just really snuck up on us.
Thanks to today’s release, though, we now know that the game will release on October 13th. It will do so on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, as expected. A Switch version is also in the works, but will not launch at the same time.
Torchlight III is set a century after the events of its most recent predecessor, and sees the Ember Empire close to collapsing. As one of several different playable character classes, you’ll brave another “grand adventure” full of quests, loot and loads of enemies, in order to help restore peace to the world. In doing so, you’ll deal with increasingly difficult threats, experiment with unique relic sub-classes, create fully customizable forts and have the option of trying your hand at some very challenging endgame content.
