The World of Assassination Trilogy will come to an end in 2021, when IO Interactive releases Hitman 3. The third game in the trilogy will conclude a storyline that began with 2016’s Hitman reboot, then continued inside of Hitman 2.
Hitman 3 was officially revealed today, during Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event. At that time, Sony played a trailer which showed a group of suit clad agents chasing Agent 47 through the woods. Near the end, things changed to show a mysterious man in front of a skyscraper’s window, and a middle aged woman at a very visceral tourist spot.
It’s become normal for players to carry their progress and locations from one Hitman game to another, and that won’t change with Hitman 3. As such, fans of the series will be able to play the entire trilogy within it, just by downloading level packs and related data from the previous two titles.
We’re not sure if Hitman 3 is a PlayStation exclusive. All we know right now is that it’s heading to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in early 2021. When it does, it will mark the second release from IO Interactive since the developer went independent in 2017.
