Our predictions for the PlayStation 5 reveal event

WHAT WON’T BE THERE

Anything from Naughty Dog

They’ve been working real hard. Give them a break; they deserve it.

Price

Look, we’d love to know how much this console is going to cost, and while it would be incredible to see pull a rabbit out of its hat with a $399 price tag, we just don’t see either happening. First, the SSD and other high-end tech of the console likely puts this beast in the $499 range, and that is including Sony probably taking a bit of a loss on every unit they produce.

And given that we’re not even sure we’ll see the hardware, how can they put a price on something that we may not even see yet?

We’re hoping and dreaming, but it isn’t happening.

Starfield, The Elder Scrolls VI, or Grand Theft Auto VI

Believe it, we would love to see Todd Howard or Rockstar show up to reveal three and a half seconds of either of these games. But it’s not going to happen. The Elder Scrolls VI is still years away from entering development in earnest, so count that one out right away. Starfield is considerably further along, sure, but being a brand new game, would likely be shown off by Bethesda proper. And GTA VI, while it would set the world on fire, is almost certainly too early for there to be gameplay, let alone anything close to polished enough to show off the true prowess of the new machine

Given that the Bethesda is going to be participating in Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, we expect to hear more from them sometime before August, but showing Starfield there is still far from a guarantee.
