On the Xbox Wire, Microsoft’s Partner Director of Program Management, Jason Ronald, wrote about how his team has tried to make the upcoming Xbox Series X the most compatible console ever. Something which apparently “required significant innovation in the design of the custom processor and Xbox operating system.”
This blog post goes on to discuss the innovations that have allowed the Xbox Series X to remain backwards compatible with thousands of games from previous consoles, all of which will play better than they ever did before. This will be made possible by new HDR reconstruction and a Quick Resume feature, as well as the console’s ability to allow select titles to run at a higher resolution or double their previous frame rates.
