Fans of the series will be happy to hear that the rumours pertaining to a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 re-release were, in fact, correct. Today, Activision announced the existence of, and the release of, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. The only caveat here is that it’s a PS4 exclusive (for now), meaning that PC and Xbox One gamers will have to wait until a later date to play through this updated version of one of the series’ best.
“Modern Warfare 2 campaign was incredible. We all remember the lasting impression the story left upon us. This campaign was very special and we thank Infinity Ward for creating such an amazing experience,” said Thomas Wilson, co-studio head, Beenox. “Restoring and remastering this campaign for a new generation of players was a labor of love for our team. We wanted to make sure that the feelings and power of the story was accurately represented with full high-definition visuals and the latest audio fidelity.”
This enhanced version will include all of the story’s original content, including the much talked-about ‘No Russian’ mission. Furthermore, those who purchase or pre-order it will receive bonuses in the form of the UDT Ghost Operator skin, two weapon blueprints, a weapon charm, a new finishing move, a new voice quip, an animated calling card, an emblem, and two Battle Pass tier skips. Of course, these will be for use in 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered will set you back $19.99 USD. As of right now, there are no plans to bring its multiplayer back.
