SNK announces new Samurai Showdown game

Fans of the classic SNK fighting series, Samurai Showdown, are likely having a very good day. That’s because, as the title of this article suggests, the developer has just announced a brand new version of the game. One that will take the franchise from 2D visuals to 3D visuals, while retaining the ‘classic samurai manga’ look that the series is known for.

Set in the 18th century, this new Samurai Showdown will take place after the events of Samurai Showdown V, but before those of the original game. It will be powered by the Unreal 4 engine, and is said to include 13 different characters. Post-launch DLC fighters are also planned, of course.

Expect to be able to play Samurai Showdown on your PS4 or Xbox One in June. Versions for both the Nintendo Switch (Q4 2019) and PC will then follow at later dates.
