One of today’s highlights was the announcement of Square Enix’s The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, a free to download narrative that acts as an original Life is Strange experience.
Captain Spirit asks players to return to their childhoods, to a time where imagination reigned supreme. There, they’ll find a 10 year-old boy named Chris who dreams of being a superhero. A boy who loves to play with his toys and go on adventures, and is about to go have something truly extraordinary happen to him.
Developed by DONTNOD, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a self-contained narrative experience that stands as the first step towards Life is Strange 2. As such, it will feature several links to the upcoming sequel.
“We’re very excited to present THE AWESOME ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN SPIRIT™. We have created a self-contained narrative experience that’s brimming with content – the deeper you dig, the more you will discover. We’re happy to announce that we will be giving away this content completely free of charge.” – said Jon Brooke, VP of Brand and European Marketing at SQUARE ENIX.
“We have always imagined LIFE IS STRANGE™ as a diverse universe filled with interesting characters and stories to tell. THE AWESOME ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN SPIRIT™ and the story of Chris is one of many stories that we really want to share with the world.” – said Michel Koch and Raoul Barbet, Creative Directors of Life is Strange at DONTNOD Entertainment.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will be free to download, and is expected to launch on the 26th of June. It will not be an Xbox One exclusive, however, and is also planned for PlayStation 4 and Windows 10.
