Microsoft took to their E3 stage at the Galen Center to show off the first gameplay footage of State of Decay 2, Undead Labs’ follow-up to the surprise hit of 2013.
The gameplay footage, which shows off quirky physics much like the first title, also highlights an all-new open world adventure that will allow players to build a base, manage resources, and develop characters. Bringing RPG elements into a post-apocalyptic world is Undead Labs’ effort to keep the genre fresh, and given State of Decay 2‘s anticipation and reception, they seem to be accomplishing just that.
The game will also feature four player co-op to allow for friends to get in on the action. Difficulty will scale based on the number of players in the party though it is unclear if progress will transfer to the single-player experience.
State of Decay 2 comes to Xbox One, with enhancements for Xbox One X, Windows 10, as well as Xbox Play Anywhere support, in Spring 2018.
