UPDATE: The next day after revealing the release date for “The Last Guardian” at their E3 press conference, an Amazon listing outed a collector’s edition for the game. The collector’s edition comes in a wooden crate with the game’s title stamped on it, and also includes a steelbook case, an ornate statue of the two protagonists, a sticker sheet, a sampler soundtrack, and a 72-page art book. The collector’s edition retails for $119.99 USD.
Original report follows:
We’ve been waiting for almost seven years to finally get our hands on The Last Guardian, which was initially revealed as a Team ICO project for PlayStation 3 during Sony’s E3 conference of that year. Finally, at Sony’s E3 conference of 2016, we can mark our calendars for good, and look forward to finally owning Team ICO’s and Sony Japan Studio’s long-anticipated adventure. The Last Guardian officially releases, exclusively for PlayStation 4, on October 25th of this year, worldwide.
Sony surprisingly didn’t say too much about The Last Guardian during their E3 conference this year, though they did show off a new trailer that continued to highlight the gameplay elements that players can look forward to when the game finally arrives. Among these include exploration of a mysterious and ruined land, commanding and bonding with your giant creature companion, Trico, and of course, taking on and eluding sinister forces that are no doubt greater than your little boy protagonist.
