Nintendo had no shortage of Zelda news in their Direct presentation today, including a small tidbit about its upcoming new entry in the franchise, simply called Zelda Wii U by the internet until an official name is announced.
The Kyoto-based company has stated that Zelda Wii U is indeed coming to Wii U in 2016, and while they didn’t say that it isn’t coming to their new NX platform, the way Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime announced that it would be coming to Wii U leaves us to believe that it will not be a dual-release like Twilight Princess was on GameCube and Wii. Speaking of Twilight Princess, it’s getting an HD re-release next March.
The short clip with which Nintendo announced the game’s 2016 release window doesn’t show much, but we get another look at the huge open world, what appears to be Death Mountain (or a similarly ominous peak), as well as some goats roaming the distance, and a horse that doesn’t quite look like the chocolate brown Epona we’ve come to love. (Don’t worry, Shigeru Miyamoto has already said that the game does feature Epona.)
