Mario and friends are set to hit the court again, this time in glorious HD! During E3’s Nintendo Digital Event today, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash was revealed as a surprise new offering for Wii U, bringing the Mario Tennis games to Nintendo’s current console for the first time.
All that was shown for the game was a brief trailer, though it highlighted power-ups that can do things like increase players’ sizes during gameplay, along with enabling the titular ‘Ultra Smash’ serves. Not much else is known at this point, though recurring series developer, Camelot is behind Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash.
The previous Mario Tennis game, Mario Tennis Open, released for Nintendo 3DS in 2012, to lukewarm reception. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is set to launch on Wii U at the end of this year.
