Fans of 2008 cult hit game, Mirror’s Edge are waiting with bated breath for any indication as to when they’ll get to play the game’s follow-up/reboot combo, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst. During EA’s E3 conference today however, that mystery was put to rest. Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst will officially launch on February 23rd, 2016, simultaneously for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
As stated previously, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst is a re-imagining of the first-person parkour-focused action game that inspired it, not a sequel. The game will tell an origin story for returning protagonist, Faith, within the totalitarian realm of the City of Glass. As with the previous game, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst unfolds entirely in first-person, and will combine fast-paced platforming with intense action, now with far more refinement than its predecessor.
In fact, EA stressed that Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst takes advantage of next-gen technology to unfold in a persistent open world, completely free of load times or interruptions. The game won’t even be divided into levels either, with players able to take on the City of Glass and its challenges at their own pace.
