Perhaps you’ve heard of a little game called Shovel Knight. The Kickstarter success of Yacht Club Games, Shovel Knight is an 8-bit ode to classic NES franchises like Castlevania, Mega Man and DuckTales. It’s also one of the year’s top-selling indie offerings, and has been immensely well-received, being one of our own highest-rated games of 2014, and the winner of the year’s best indie game at The Game Awards last night.
Now, a larger audience will finally get to experience this gem. At the PlayStation Experience today, Sony confirmed that Shovel Knight will release on PlayStation platforms in 2015. It will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita alike.
Along with preserving the same great 8-bit retro chic experience that one could already enjoy with the game, Shovel Knight on PlayStation will also come with an exclusive 8-bit appearance by God of War protagonist, Kratos. Kratos’ application in the game isn’t yet known however.
Shovel Knight is currently available for PC, Mac, 3DS, and Wii U.
