PSXP: Sony San Diego sets MLB 15: The Show for March, unveils new IP

Following the reveal of Los Angeles Dodgers player, Yasiel Puig as the cover athlete for MLB 15: The Show during The Game Awards last night, Sony San Diego took to the stage at PlayStation Experience to formally unveil the game.

MLB 15 - Cover ArtWhile Sony San Diego is still well into finishing development on MLB 15: The Show, they did show off a brief CG teaser, and talked a bit about some of the new features. MLB 15: The Show aims to further refine the visuals, gameplay features and online multiplayer suite, and for the first time, will feature actual licensed baseball equipment on the players.

For the first time ever, Road to the Show stats will be transferrable from MLB 14: The Show to MLB 15: The Show next year as well. This will finally prevent players from having to start all over again as they upgrade to the following year’s game.

MLB 15: The Show has also been given a release date of March 31st, 2015. It will release for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4.

Surprisingly however, MLB 15: The Show was not Sony San Diego’s only announcement during the PlayStation Experience keynote. The developer also announced an all-new IP for PlayStation 4, Kill Strain. Kill Strain is a free-to-play, fast-paced top-down multiplayer action game that features five-vs.-two-vs.-five action, though the game was too early in development to show off. Even so, Sony San Diego is already hosting an opportunity to sign up for the game’s beta, at killstrain.com.
