December 3rd marks the twentieth anniversary of Sony’s PlayStation in Japan.
At the time of the console’s announcement, many thought the company might be foolish to enter a market so heavily dominated by Nintendo and Sega. Fast forward a couple of decades, and not entering the market would have been much more devastating.
Sony has released a short montage video highlighting some of the PlayStation’s biggest moments over the past two decades and the company is planning to host the PlayStation Awards on December 3rd in Japan.
September 5th, 2015 will mark the console’s move to the North American market, so it’s safe to say that Sony will be planning something to celebrate, if not using the entire year to show off 20 Years of PlayStation much like Nintendo did with their Year of Luigi celebrations in 2013.
