Likely surprising no one, the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot movie will be getting an enhanced IMAX release. The movie was previously confirmed to be coming in 3D and 2D cuts.
The IMAX Corporation had this to say about the announcement: “The IMAX release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.”
So, basically, it will be what moviegoers come to expect from an IMAX release.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, Whoppi Goldberg and Minae Noji. Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher and Jeremy Howard will be providing the motion-capture for Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello, respectively. While Ritchson, Fisher and Howard will also be providing the voices for their respective turtles, Ploszek is only providing motion-capture, with his voice being over-dubbed by Jackass star, Johnny Knoxville. Similarly, Danny Woodburn will be providing the mo-cap work for the Turtles’ sensei, Master Splinter, but he will be over-dubbed by Michael Bay’s former Pain & Gain star, Tony Shalhoub.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will come to theatres on August 8th. Does an IMAX release encourage you to see the movie, or is your desire unaffected? Your comments are welcome below.
