Going separate ways from Naughty Dog in March, Amy Hennig, former Uncharted writer extraordinaire Amy Hennig has found new digs with Visceral Games. Perhaps the best part? She’s working on their new Star Wars project.
The game, said to be an open-world title set in the familiar galactic universe, is something that drew Amy to the role as she is, according to James Papoutsis, Vice President at Visceral Games, a huge Star Wars fan.
Very excited to share that I'm joining @VisceralGames as Creative Director on a new Star Wars project! http://t.co/QKGtguaDIr

Hennig’s new role at Visceral could be more than just writing, as Papoutsis says that he brought Hennig on for her approach to game production, “focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Hennig brings a much more story-driven spin to the next Star Wars game, which we assume will be out around the same time as Episode VII, at the end of 2015. Of course, if the game isn’t a tie-in, we might be seeing something much sooner, and even as soon as E3 in June. In fact, we have a sneaking suspicion that Hennig might even be the one to announce the game at EA’s press conference, just because of all the great buzz she’s been getting lately. She might even steal the show.
Whatever happens, we can’t wait to see what the next ten years of Star Wars gaming brings to fans all around our galaxy and ones that may just be far, far away.
