The game began on the PC, later came to the Xbox 360, just hit the PlayStation 3, and is coming to the Xbox One. But according to the series’ creator, Markus “Notch” Persson, there are no plans for Minecraft to hit Wii U anytime soon.
It would be easy to peg the game for Wii U as a little bit of tweaking to the game’s interface could prove the GamePad’s touch screen very useful in navigating and creating the world of the player.
In fact, Notch agrees, saying in a Tweet, “I agree a Wii U version would make sense”, following up with, “The only reason for no current plans is we’ve got too much work already. I <3 Nintendo.”
I agree a Wii U version would make sense, btw. The only reason for no current plans is we've got too much work already. I <3 Nintendo.

The game’s developer, Mojang, is hard at work on the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions of the game, of course, so this is likely not a cop out. By the same token, a Vita and a Wii U, structurally at least, are not all that different from each other. It could stand to reason that the Wii U version of the game might not be far off, even if it isn’t exactly close.
