The LEGO Movie is a real thing; here’s the teaser

Sometimes, a movie comes along that makes you say, “now why hasn’t this been done before?” (For the record, Battleship wasn’t one of those movies.) On the games front, we had the LEGO brand of games that took the world by storm when the company partnered with a huge number of excellent movie and book licenses to bring worlds to life with their building system.

It looks like the folks in Billund are continuing that trend as Warner Bros. Pictures just released a trailer for The LEGO Movie, set for release sometime in 2014.

The teaser we’ve seen is blindingly detailed to the extent that we thought we were looking at actual LEGO bricks until we realized that mouths don’t actually move on minifigs.

It’s clear that the title will be heavily focused around comedy, but will likely have a beautiful story and message, if only because the cast delivering it is incredible. Not only are Will Ferrell, Will Arnett, and Elizabeth Banks voicing characters in the film, so are Morgan Freeman and Liam Neeson.

We’re not sure how you could really go wrong with such a stellar cast, but add to this movie some pretty incredible writing, and we’re sure this will turn into something amazing. The trailer alone has so much detail in it that you’ll likely have to watch it three or four times to find it all. In fact, we’ve devised a little game for you:

Watch the trailer below and see if you can spot where all these things happen. Send us a tweet of at least three of them with their times in the video, and we’ll come up with a sweet prize for a couple of people!
