At yesterday’s announcement, Don Mattrick said Microsoft’s new console, Xbox One, would be released “around the world … later this year”.
Microsoft has since confirmed that the console will in fact be launching this holiday season and will be hitting North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan within days of each other. Those regions are purely speculative on our behalf, but we expect “global” to mean something more than just North America and Europe.
If anything, Japan will be the holdout for a few months, if only because Microsoft held such a Western-centric event yesterday. With that said, Australia might be waiting a while as the Xbox 360 didn’t launch until March of the year after the console launched in North America, Europe, and Japan.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any more information as it comes along. Expect to hear plenty more at E3!
