Nintendo Direct May 17th to showcase upcoming Wii U and 3DS games

largeNintendo announced this morning that they’re holding another Nintendo Direct video conference Friday morning at 7 am Pacific / 10 am Eastern time.

The video will “provide updates on upcoming summer Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games”, so we’re not really expecting big game announcements or new reveals. However, we are expecting to see a few new game demos or, at the very least, a few videos of new gameplay footage.

Nintendo has a solid title coming out almost every month through the end of the year for the 3DS, so expect to see some footage of Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D hitting portables in a week on May 24th and Animal Crossing: New Leaf due out June 9th.

On the Wii U side of things, we’d like to hope for a release date for The Wonderful 101 which was supposed to have been out in the launch window of the console, alongside new gameplay of Pikmin 3, due out August 4th in North America.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any other information to go on at this point as Nintendo has announced this as a last minute thing yet again. That seems to be their trend to disrupt the industry a little bit and have what appear to be last minute events to really get people buzzed and excited about new rumblings in their gaming world.

Stay tuned to Eggplante for all the details on the latest Nintendo Direct. You can watch the video live on Nintendo’s Facebook page as well as catch all the news afterwards right here!
