Back in October, we made a prediction that the next Call of Duty game would launch on November 12, 2013. We said this because Activision, Infinity Ward, and Treyarch like dates with interesting number mechanics. November 12th of this year will actually be 11-12-13, so that interesting number mechanic is certainly in play. However, when the poster for Call of Duty: Ghosts leaked just recently, the date shown was November 5th, a full week earlier.
We dug into this a bit deeper and have made a few interesting connections that, if true, could be huge news for the gaming world.
In the video leak back in March from Drift0r, claiming the next game would be called Ghosts and that information would be revealed early-May, the leak clearly stated that the next game would not be launching on current-gen platforms, opting only for the next Xbox and PlayStation varieties, alongside the PC.
If that rumour holds up, it means that at least one of the next-gen consoles will be launching on November 5th. If it doesn’t launch on that date specifically, we could be looking at a Friday, November 1st or Monday, November 3rd launch. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 launched on a Sunday and Friday, respectively.
There is a lot of information to be taken with a grain of salt here, but it’s interesting to note the ramifications it could have on the industry if the Call of Duty announcement actually reveals the launch date of one (or both) of the next-generation consoles.
There are no console logos on the poster, either, which makes us curious as to which consoles we’ll be seeing the next Call of Duty title on.
What do you think? Is this all one big conspiracy theory or does it hold up to what we’ve heard? Let us know what you think on Facebook and Twitter!
