This week, Nintendo held an oddly-timed Nintendo Direct for Japan, where they announced, among other things, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages for the 3DS eShop. Unfortunately, until now, we hadn’t heard word on whether or not the games would be coming to North America.
We’re happy to say that Eiji Aonuma, director of the franchise, has taken to the newly-minted Zelda Miiverse forum to confirm that the games would in fact be coming to North America.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Oracle of Ages will be released for Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS in Japan, but it’ll be a little while longer till they’re out in other territories. We”d like to ask for your patience until they’re ready for release. Thank you!
While he didn’t give a specific release date, obviously, we expect that we’ll see these Zelda titles in the eShop before the end of the year.
It’s really quite mind-boggling that these titles aren’t in the eShop already. They’re huge sellers, and Nintendo could make a serious mint hiring a development team strictly to port over existing titles. We don’t need (or want) new features; just give us the game that we played years ago, and we’ll be thrilled.
Other titles we’d love to see finally come to the eShop are all the Pokémon core titles, and the other strays from the Zelda and Mario franchises.
It sounds like Miiverse might be a great way to get some new info from official Nintendo reps, or in this case, (un)official word from one of the head honchos of the company. Keep asking those questions, and maybe more people will respond!
