Halo 4 fans can rejoice over more brand new (and free!) content with the return of Spartan Ops this coming Monday, January 21st.
Your team returns in the episodic content that tells the story of the UNSC Infinity we’re introduced to in the main single-player campaign. The story begins as you “reenlist with Fireteam Crimson as they search for Spartan Thorne on planet Requiem and come face-to-face with the threat of Jul ‘Mdama and his cult of Covenant separatists.”
The episodic content will also carry over vehicle and aerial combat from the single-player missions as you fight against both the Covenant and Prometheans in the game. With any luck, that aerial combat will hop us back into the pilot’s seat of the Pelican or Broadsword fighter. Or the UNSC Infinity itself, but we’re trying to be realistic.
Perhaps the best part of all this is that season one of Spartan Ops is all free as long as you’ve got a copy of Halo 4 – which, really, who doesn’t? The first half of the season has already been released and can be played and replayed at will by heading into Halo 4, hitting Infinity, and going to Spartan Ops. From there, you can grab all the original missions as well as find the new weekly content 343 Industries releases.
We definitely recommend playing through the episodes in order so you don’t miss out on any of the excellent storytelling, and you can also see trailers of each upcoming week’s episode from the same place you hop into to start the game.
Take a look at Halo Waypoint for more information, and we’ll have our full review of all Spartan Ops episodes when the season wraps in just over a month.
