Music Spotlight: David Choi

It seems that a lot of people have found a way to begin their careers on YouTube. They start by posting a cover video or two, build up followers, perhaps post an original song, and somehow eventually producing an entire album of original music.

One such artist is David Choi. David has been on YouTube since August 2006 and has an astounding 925,000 subscribers to his channel. To put that in perspective, Justin Bieber’s channel, kidrauhl has less than double that. David’s videos have been viewed nearly 120 million times, and there’s a reason for it: he’s good at what he does.

David started out making acoustic covers to songs like Hey There Delilah and Jailhouse Rock, and before long, he had millions of views on YouTube. He began producing his own music, and churned out his first debut album, Only You, in early 2009. You can find the album online at DavidChoiMusic.com and listen to all the tracks on his YouTube channel.

Since then, David has produced another two albums, By My Side and Forever and Ever, available on his site, Amazon, and the iTunes Music Store.

Of course, David never forgot his roots as a cover artist, and continues to put out covers every once in a while on the site that helped his rise to fame. If you have any sort of interest in beautiful renditions of songs you know, or are looking for a new sound to get hooked on, David’s soulful voice is always soothing and some great easy listening for a car ride or just lounging around at home.

David Choi is currently on tour through North America and will play the Highline Ballroom in New York City tonight.
